The Peña is a yearly event filled with the music, food and culture of Latin America. We celebrate the Latin American country that pertains to either the playwright we are developing at the moment, or the country featured in our current play.
A Peña is a Latin American word for fundraising party that incorporates social activism within our communities and a celebration of artistic and cultural foundations which embody the spirit and life of Latin Americans in Canada. Please join us this year in celebrating our artistic and cultural voices!
We are raising money for all of Alameda’s 2012-2013 programming, which includes the 2012 De Colores Festival of New Works (Canada’s first and only Latin American playwright’s festival), Nueva Voz, our youth outreach arts based program, and the world premiere Production, The Intruder by Amaranta Leyva.
Hosted by Martha Chaves and her Drag Queens
Featuring SON ACHE, Toronto’s own “Buena Vista Social Club”
And a special presentation of the Nueva Voz ensemble’s collective creation piece!
Our Silent Auction is back, featuring Latin American contemporary artists’ work and other amazing items! Latin American hors d’œuvres. Cash Bar.
