“School of Social Justice” (NOV 9)

OCASI is pleased to invite you to participate in the pre-session of the inaugural “School of Social Justice”, a pilot initiative to build skills for social analysis, community organizing, media engagement and policy intervention.
OCASI’s current strategic plan, based on extensive consultation with member agencies, calls for building capacity for strategic leadership and policy intervention among OCASI members. In response, OCASI is developing the “School of Social Justice” initiative as the first step in building a movement that will work with similar projects and partnerships here in Ontario and across the country.

“Setting the Tone” – Pre-session

The session, reserved for EDs of agencies that will be invited to participate in further training, will explore a vision for integrating community service, community engagement and policy intervention in order to build a future that is equitable and just for all.

•  Date: Wednesday, November 9th (day before the ED Forum);

•  Location: Westin Prince Hotel Toronto Hotel (same location as the ED Forum);

•  Time: 10am to 4pm (TBC)

•  Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis!;

•  Participation costs will be covered.

Participants in the pre-session are encouraged to attend the ED Forum as well, and it is suggested that you register for the Advocacy and Risk Management seminar, which will address practical issues and concerns related to advocacy and risk management.

After the pre-session, you will be invited to identify a staff member at your agency who will participate in four advocacy analysis and skills training sessions that will be offered in the New Year.  Your participation in the pre-session will help inform the vision for these training sessions. More information about these sessions will be presented at the pre-session.

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Erika Gates-Gasse at egates@ocasi.org or 416-322-4950 x 227.
